Activist makes case for kidney dialysis, others in Delta health scheme

Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, a Delta State-based human and child rights activist, has called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to include kidney dialysis and other terminal illnesses in the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme (DSCHS) to enhance access to affordable healthcare. The DSCHS currently offers four health plans: Formal, Informal, Equity, and Private. Aghogho highlighted the financial burden of treating kidney failure in Nigeria, emphasizing the underdevelopment of alternative treatments like peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplants. He stressed the need to incorporate these treatments into the DSCHS to improve healthcare outcomes and achieve universal health coverage. Governor Oborevwori has expressed commitment to enhancing the health sector through collaboration with stakeholders.
