ADHD prescriptions surge 87% in five years as ‘tsunami’ of demand overwhelms services

Young people (16-24) and males account for the majority of prescriptions. ADHD Ireland cites the pandemic, celebrity diagnoses, social media, and previously undiagnosed adults as drivers of demand. Service provision is impacted, with some areas pausing referrals. The government plans to fund four new adult ADHD teams.
