'Adorable' boy, three, died when bungling trainee doctor accidentally pierced artery during routine procedure after liver transplant

Aarav Chopra, from Wolverhampton, died as a result of serious brain damage after doctors spent nearly 30 minutes trying to resuscitate him.

Three-year-old Aarav Chopra died at Birmingham Children's Hospital in November 2023 after a trainee doctor accidentally pierced a major artery during a routine liver biopsy, leading to cardiac arrest and brain damage. Aarav, who had received a liver transplant months prior, was on antiplatelet medication which wasn't stopped before the procedure. His parents were unaware a trainee would perform the biopsy and are taking legal action.
