Alleged synagogue attacker hit with rare charge of ‘advocating genocide,’ but released on bail anyway

In addition to charges for arson, criminal harassment, threats and mischief, Amir Arvahi Azar was also hit with multiple gun charges



Amir Arvahi Azar, accused of multiple antisemitic crimes including vandalism at the Pride of Israel Synagogue, was charged with 29 criminal counts including the rare charge of "advocating genocide," as well as gun and hate speech charges. Despite this, and being accused of an eight-month crime spree with loaded handguns, he was released on bail with conditions. The alleged crimes occurred during an increase in attacks targeting Canadian Jewish sites.
