Armagh man who caused baby ‘catastrophic’ brain injuries jailed for at least 20 years

Lewis Oliver Rowland sustained life-changing brain injuries at 13 weeks after father shook him violently



An Armagh man was sentenced to at least 20 years in prison for the murder of his baby son, Lewis Oliver Rowland, who sustained catastrophic brain injuries from being shaken in November 2015. Lewis died at age three in 2018 due to complications from surgery related to his injuries. Both parents were convicted of neglecting to seek timely medical treatment for the baby. The father's sentence was aggravated by a previous conviction for sexual assault. The mother received probation and community service.
