AstraZeneca boss takes home £15m pay packet after profits rise

The Cambridge-based pharmaceutical company behind a variety of medicines paid its chief executive Pascal Soriot £14.7 million in 2024.

AstraZeneca's CEO received a £15 million pay package in 2024 following a rise in company profits. The company reported strong revenue growth, partly due to a 24% increase in oncology sales. Despite this, the CEO's pay was lower than the £16.9 million received in 2023. Some shareholders opposed changes to the executive pay policy last year. AstraZeneca's spokesperson stated that executive compensation reflects company performance, citing a 33% total shareholder return over the past three years.
