Astronauts who spent 9 months in space finally return to earth with splash down off Florida’s coast

Their return comes following months of pressure from the White House and President Donald Trump, who has claimed that they were ‘abandoned’

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore, along with Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, splashed down off the coast of Florida in a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft after nine months aboard the International Space Station, significantly longer than planned due to issues with the Boeing Starliner spacecraft. The return was preceded by criticism from former President Trump who claimed the astronauts were "abandoned."
