At least 11 dead in Kentucky after severe flooding sweeps the South

Parts of Kentucky and Tennessee received up to 7 inches of rain during the weekend storms, and at least 11 people have died in the Southeast

Severe flooding in the Southern U.S., particularly in Kentucky and Tennessee, has resulted in at least 16 deaths. The region experienced up to 7 inches of rainfall over the weekend, leading to significant flooding and forcing the Kentucky River to reach its highest level in decades. Emergency measures, including travel bans and curfews, were implemented in affected areas. Over 100 rescues were conducted in Southwest Virginia amidst wintry conditions. Additional flooding is expected as river levels continue to rise, and a winter storm watch was issued for parts of Kentucky, with snowfall anticipated. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear secured disaster relief funding following President Trump's approval.
