Attacks on emergency workers drive up violence in East Ayrshire

Attacks on emergency workers in East Ayrshire have risen by 45%, driving a 10.2% increase in violent crime between April and December 2024. While common assaults (excluding those on emergency workers) decreased compared to 2023, they remain 10% above the five-year average. The report highlights that without the rise in attacks on emergency workers, violent crime figures would have decreased year-on-year.
