Australia’s $2.6 trillion pension fund industry has a message for the US: “We’re ready to invest in America’s future.”
Australia's $2.6 trillion pension fund industry, known as superannuation funds, has expressed interest in investing $400 billion in the U.S., projected to grow to over $1 trillion by 2035. This was highlighted during a summit in Washington D.C., where executives met with U.S. officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The funds, private entities that pay taxes, emphasized sectors like infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and AI. The initiative coincided with efforts to secure exemptions from U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum.
