On March 25, 2025, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke urged historians to avoid distorting facts to prevent communal conflicts, citing recent clashes in Ifon, Illobu, and Erin Osun as examples of the consequences of historical distortion. He proposed a State Security Trust Fund and a peace and security program in schools to address the issue. The Vice Chancellor of Adeleke University, Prof Solomon Adebola, emphasized the role of historians in social transformation, while the event was attended by participants from 12 universities in South West Nigeria.
