AIK Bank from Serbia, led by Aleksandar Kostić, aims to become one of the leading banks in Croatia. Kostić believes such a bank is necessary for the region and anticipates opportunities for acquiring banks in the next two to three years. The MK Group, which owns AIK Bank, plans to invest 1.6 billion euros in its operations, with additional investments in banking and energy sectors. While considering opportunities in Bulgaria and Romania, the primary focus remains on the Western Balkans, including Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. The bank aims to become one of the top three banks in each of these markets within five to seven years. Kostić emphasizes the advantage of being a regional bank, as it better understands local clients.
