The BBC has been accused of spreading "Hamas propaganda" after it was claimed that a supposedly average teenager featured in a recent documentary on the conflict in Gaza is the son of a top Hamas official. The BBC documentary "Gaza: How to Survive a War Zone" has faced criticism for allegedly promoting Hamas propaganda. It featured 14-year-old Abdullah Al-Yazouri, who is the son of a senior Hamas official, Dr. Ayman Al-Yazouri. Pro-Israel journalist David Collier accused the BBC of knowing about Abdullah's background but presenting him as a typical Gaza resident to elicit sympathy and demonize Israel. Collier also questioned the BBC's due diligence and impartiality, noting that co-director Yousef D. Hammash has pro-Palestinian ties and that the documentary's subjects were previously covered by other media. Critics, including Labour Against Antisemitism and former BBC director Danny Cohen, argue the BBC failed in basic journalistic checks and used taxpayer funds to promote Hamas propaganda.
