B.C. provincial government denies funding for health centre in Summerland

Last week, council received a response from B.C.'s health minister, who stated the the province is 'unable to financially support" the proposed health centre.

The British Columbia provincial government denied Summerland's funding request for a primary health centre, disappointing local officials. The province cited existing healthcare investments in the South Okanagan and Penticton. Without funding, the space allocated for the centre in a new affordable housing complex may be lost, hindering efforts to attract doctors and provide local healthcare for the community.
