Bookcase belonging to Charles Stewart Parnell among items damaged at National Museum

The museum’s inventory detailed how in 2023 a bookcase believed to belong to Parnell was damaged after a leak in the roof of a storage area.

Historic objects at Ireland's National Museum have been damaged, including a bookcase believed to belong to Charles Stewart Parnell damaged by a roof leak, a dried-out frog specimen, and a candelabra with a broken star. Other incidents include damage to Japanese art from a rain leak, an antique chair being knocked over, and a basking shark skin requiring a "nappy". While some items have been stolen in the past, the museum reports no current missing objects.
