
Apprehensions along the U.S. southern border fell to numbers not seen since President Donald Trump's first term, hitting a threshold not seen since May 2020, the White House says.
According to a White House press release, border arrests in January reached the lowest level since May 2020, with approximately 29,000 arrests made along the southern border. Overall CBP apprehensions at the southern border in January totaled 61,465, a 36% decrease from the previous month. Apprehensions fell 85% between January 21 and 31, compared to the same period in 2024.
