A transgender-identifying boy won a high school girls' pole vault competition in Maine, following the state's decision to defy President Trump's executive order banning males from competing in female sports. The boy, who now uses a girl's name, vaulted 11 feet, just one inch less than the previous year's girls' state record. The winning score would have placed him 10th if he had competed on the boys' team, where the winning vault was 14 feet. The Maine Principals Association (MPA) rejected Trump's order, stating it would follow Maine's Human Rights Act instead. Critics, including state Rep. Libby and the American Parents Coalition, condemned the decision, arguing it undermines fairness in women's sports. Federal authorities warned Maine schools about potential funding risks for defying the order.
