Buzzy startup that raised $230 million for AI pins shuts down after scathing reviews

Humane began discussing a sale to HP as soon as its first user reviews hit the internet, according to a report

Humane, a San Francisco-based AI startup, raised $230 million and developed an AI pin priced between $499 and $699. Despite high-profile investors like Sam Altman and Marc Benioff, the product received harsh reviews, with critics calling it "bad at almost everything." In response, Humane sold its assets, including software, patents, and staff, to HP for $116 million. HP plans to integrate Humane's AI platform into its devices. Humane ceased service for the Ai Pin on February 28, offering refunds only to recent buyers and advising others to recycle their devices.
