Celebrities call for rethink of ‘shameful’ Government welfare cuts

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has insisted that the current system is ‘morally and economically indefensible’.

Celebrities, including Brian Cox, Stephen Fry, Stanley Tucci, Rosie Jones, and Arlene Phillips, are urging the UK government to reconsider planned welfare cuts, particularly to disability benefits, which they deem "shameful." Experts estimate a million people in England and Wales will lose disability benefits. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also criticised the current system as "morally and economically indefensible". The government anticipates £5 billion in annual savings by the end of the decade. While universal credit is set to rise, the health element for new claimants will be cut.
