Columbine shooting survivor and disabilities advocate Anne Marie Hochhalter has died

Members of the Columbine community and beyond are mourning the loss of Anne Marie Hochhalter, who became paralyzed after being shot twice in the Columbine shooting in 1999.

Anne Marie Hochhalter, a survivor of the 1999 Columbine shooting and advocate for people with disabilities, has passed away. Paralyzed after being shot twice during the attack, she became a symbol of resilience. Following her mother's suicide six months later, she found solace with the Townsends, a family who lost a child in the shooting, who adopted her as an "acquired daughter." Known for her forgiveness, she publicly forgave one of the shooters' mothers in 2012. Her death was attributed to natural causes related to her injuries.
