Columbine shooting survivor dies 26 years after being paralyzed in massacre

Anne Marie Hochhalter, a survivor of the 1999 Columbine High School shooting, has died at the age of 44, 26 years after being paralyzed in the attack. She passed away from natural causes, likely complications from her injuries. Hochhalter, who was paralyzed in the back and chest during the shooting, chose to focus on living a fulfilling life, pursuing her love for dogs and music despite her circumstances. Six months after the shooting, her mother also died by suicide. Hochhalter emphasized her identity as a survivor rather than a victim, as highlighted by her close friend Sue Townsend. She passed away on the 25th anniversary of the shooting, marking a significant milestone in her resilience.
