MMA fighter ‘author of his own misfortune’ after reposting ‘some nonsense’ on social media, judge said
Conor McGregor was ordered to pay legal costs for an application restraining the dissemination of CCTV footage from his civil rape trial, where a jury found he raped Nikita Hand. The judge ruled McGregor was responsible for the application because he reposted an article about a social media post suggesting the footage would be released. Although McGregor stated he deleted the footage and did not release it, the judge granted Hand the legal costs, staying the order pending appeal. McGregor has appealed the jury's finding in favor of Hand, who was awarded almost €250,000 in damages.
