CSIS director to attend intelligence chiefs conclave in India amid signs of possible diplomatic thaw

There are signs the Indian government is ready to reset the diplomatic relationship as Canada searches for new trade partners amid a trade war with the U.S.

CSIS Director Daniel Rogers will attend the Raisina Insights Forum in India, a conclave of intelligence chiefs, amid signs of a possible thaw in diplomatic relations between Canada and India. This is the first publicly acknowledged meeting of top security officials from both countries since a tense October meeting that led to diplomatic expulsions. The meeting comes as Indian media reports suggest Prime Minister Modi sees Trudeau's potential exit as an opportunity to improve relations. The conclave is organized by India’s National Security Council Secretariat, headed by Ajit Doval. The October meeting was about the alleged murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
