Rheinmetall, a German defense production giant, is transitioning production at two factories from civilian to military use as part of a new European security strategy focused on defense against potential Russian aggression with reduced US involvement. The shift reflects stronger demand for defense equipment, such as tanks, over cars, impacting the automotive sector. Additionally, the French-German group KNDS is acquiring a tram factory in Görlitz from Alstom.
