Vaughn Palmer: Since becoming premier in late 2022, David Eby has presided over an astonishing decline in provincial finances.
According to a Vancouver Sun article, Premier David Eby has overseen a significant decline in British Columbia's finances since taking office in late 2022. He inherited a projected $5.7 billion surplus from former Premier John Horgan, which was reduced to $700 million by the end of the 2022-23 financial year. The province then incurred a $5 billion deficit in 2023-24. Provincial debt has also increased significantly under Eby's leadership.
