Gerhard Karner, 57, remains Austria's Interior Minister after Karl Nehammer became Chancellor. Karner, who succeeded Nehammer, has a history in the Interior Ministry, returning in 2021. He previously served as a press spokesman under Ernst Strasser and has held various roles, including as the head of the Lower Austrian ÖVP, a Landtag member, and mayor of Texingtal.
