A discrimination lawsuit filed by TrailblazHers Run Co. against the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) and the city of Newton, alleging racial discrimination during the 2023 Boston Marathon, has been allowed to proceed by a federal judge. The suit stems from an incident where members of the running group were allegedly "unjustly targeted" by Newton police at the BAA's request. While a claim of conspiracy was dismissed, claims of civil rights violations were upheld. The lawsuit arose after police responded to a cheering section at Mile 21 following a confetti cannon incident.
