Dr. Gideon Boako calls for national geological survey to curb illegal mining

Member of Parliament for Tano North and alumnus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Dr. Gideon Boako, has called for a comprehensive national geological survey to identify mineral-rich zones and reduce the widespread illegal mining activities known locally as galamsey. Speaking at the closing session of the maiden College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS) International Sustainability Conference on the theme “Sustainability through Social Inclusion, Business Innovations and Global Trends”, Dr. Boako said the absence of clear geological mapping contributes to the indiscriminate digging of land across the country.
