The Labour Party (LP) in the House of Representatives has commended the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for its efforts to combat fake and counterfeit medicines. However, the party has criticized the agency's enforcement actions, which led to the closure of drug markets in Onitsha, Lagos, and Aba, affecting innocent traders. NAFDAC's operations, including sealing markets and seizing pharmaceuticals without allowing traders to witness the process, have caused financial losses and disrupted legitimate businesses. LP lawmakers urged NAFDAC to adopt a more measured approach, ensuring that its actions target only identified culprits and protect the interests of law-abiding entrepreneurs.
