Dumfries Town Board chairman wants answers of future of £20million funding pot

Richie Nicoll says the UK Government's announcement of a Plan for Neighbourhoods has taken him by surprise.

Richie Nicoll, chairman of Dumfries Town Board, seeks clarity on the future of a £20 million funding pot allocated through the UK Government's Long-Term Plan for Towns (LTPT) scheme in 2023. The project has been renamed to Plan for Neighbourhoods, with each town receiving up to £20 million for community projects. Nicoll expressed frustration over the unexpected announcement and emphasized the need for guidance to understand its impact on Dumfries' existing initiatives. The UK Government plans to release the funding starting April 2024, with investments beginning next year.
