Islam follows the lunar calendar, based on the moon’s cycles, Zuleyha Keskin reports
Eid, a major celebration for Muslims worldwide, doesn't always occur on the same day, even within the same country, due to variations in lunar calendar interpretation and moon sighting practices. Some Muslims follow local moon sightings, while others adhere to global sightings, leading to different celebration dates. The Islamic calendar's lunar nature also causes Eid dates to shift approximately 11 days earlier each year.
