The Ekpeye ethnic nation, residing in Ahoada East and West local government areas of Rivers State, has rejected the diversion of the Ubeta Gas Project to Obite in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area. In a communiqué, they demanded that the project be developed within their communities, either in Ubeta or elsewhere in Ekpeye. They prohibited any discussions or agreements with TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited without their involvement and emphasized their unity and cultural heritage. The decision was made following consultations with traditional rulers, women groups, and youth leaders, affirming their collective resolve to manage the project's development within their ethnic boundaries.
