Nine people were reported dead in northeastern Syria due to airstrikes attributed to Turkey in the Kobané region. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who control the area, accused Turkey of targeting civilians. Turkey claims the SDF is linked to the PKK, a Kurdish separatist group. These events occurred amidst a backdrop of a recent agreement between the new Syrian government and the SDF to integrate Kurdish institutions into the Syrian state, and Ankara's demand that the PKK disarm.
