Estonia Joins Calls on EU to Delay New Carbon Market for Fuels

Estonia joined other European Union nations in urging the bloc to delay or even scrap a new carbon market for transportation and heating fuels, on concerns it could boost energy costs.

Estonia is urging the EU to delay or cancel the new Emissions Trading System 2 (ETS2) for transportation and heating fuels, citing concerns about rising energy costs. Other nations like Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic have also expressed similar concerns. The ETS2 is scheduled to begin in 2027 to help the EU meet its greenhouse gas reduction targets.
