Family of Manitoba grandmother who died on surgery waiting list backs proposed law

The family of a Manitoba grandmother who died while waiting for heart surgery says it hopes a proposed law could help prevent other families from going through the same heartbreak.

The family of Deborah Fewster, a Manitoba woman who died while waiting for heart surgery, supports "Debbie's Law." This proposed law would require healthcare authorities to inform patients if life-saving treatment cannot be provided in a timely manner. Fewster's family believes that had they known the surgery wouldn't be on time, they would have sought treatment outside the province. Manitoba's Health Minister is open to considering the proposed law.
