Farmer will not face manslaughter charges after fatal cow attack, inquest hears

Malcolm Flynn, 72, was knocked to the ground, trampled and kicked in the head when he used a public footpath in 2020.

A farmer in Northumberland will not face manslaughter charges after his cows fatally attacked 72-year-old Malcolm Flynn, who was walking near Hadrian's Wall in September 2020. An inquest heard Flynn was trampled and kicked by Limousin cows despite warning signs erected after a similar, non-fatal incident in 2019. The farmer has since reduced his herd and avoids grazing cattle in fields with public rights of way unless fenced.
