FCCPC begins inquiry into high cost of BP, diabetes medications

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has initiated an inquiry into the high costs and price variations of blood pressure and diabetes medications. Led by Mr. Tunji Bello, the inquiry aims to identify factors affecting healthcare accessibility and affordability. Consumer complaints about price disparities and high costs have highlighted the issue, with 70% of raw materials being imported, contributing to higher costs through foreign exchange rates and electricity tariffs. The significant rise in medication costs over the past year has made treatment difficult for many, underscoring the inquiry's importance.
