FG defends emergency rule, says Tinubu’s action to avert Rivers collapse

The Federal Government defended President Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending the Governor, Deputy Governor, and House of Assembly for six months. Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.) was nominated as Administrator. The declaration does not affect the judicial arm. Tinubu cited Section 305 of the Constitution as justification, aiming to prevent an "implosion" in the state.
