The Federal Government defended President Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending the Governor, Deputy Governor, and House of Assembly for six months. Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.) was nominated as Administrator. The declaration does not affect the judicial arm.
