Around 200,000 passengers have been affected by the closure of what is Europe’s busiest airport.
Flights resumed at Heathrow after a power outage caused mass disruptions, with British Airways flight BA56 being the first to land. Heathrow aims to return to normal operation on Saturday, expecting to operate around 85% of scheduled flights, though delays are anticipated. A power substation fire caused the outage, impacting thousands of homes and diverting flights. Overnight flight restrictions were temporarily lifted, and additional staff and flights were added to assist passengers. The airport is now fully operational.
