Barbara Janssen, the former operator of the Friesenhof girls' homes, has been denied compensation by the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The court ruled that her claim was invalid because she did not contest the revocation of her operating license in time. Additionally, Janssen was insolvent two days before the license was revoked, rendering the homes nearly worthless. She sought approximately 2 million euros in damages. The Friesenhof homes were closed nearly a decade ago amid allegations of abuse and mistreatment.
