From a bombsite in Gaza to a Texas hospital: Mazyouna’s journey to safety

Now, she and three other war-wounded girls have finally been permitted to travel for treatment in the USOn a warm afternoon in Houston, Texas, a group of young girls are hanging out by a swimming pool. Mazyouna, a young girl from Gaza, survived an Israeli missile strike that destroyed her home, leaving her with severe facial injuries. Due to Gaza's strained healthcare system, she received limited treatment. After media attention, Mazyouna, her family, and other injured children were evacuated to Texas for specialized care. They are now undergoing medical treatment in the U.S. under temporary visas, but their long-term future remains uncertain as they face the possibility of returning to war-torn Gaza.
