Almost all of London's 33 boroughs are planning to increase council tax bills by the maximum 4.99% allowed, with 30 boroughs set to implement this rise. Newham, facing financial challenges, has been granted permission to increase by 8.99%, while Kensington and Chelsea and Wandsworth are not seeking the maximum increase, with Wandsworth proposing a 2% rise. The average increase is £91, leading to an average payment of £1,996. Twenty-two boroughs will exceed £2,000 annually, with Kingston at £2,488 and Wandsworth at £990. Some boroughs are seeking financial support to avoid bankruptcy, and additional costs include National Insurance changes and potential contractor bill hikes.
