Gallery displays rare painting to mark International Women’s Day

Bacchanale by Olive Carleton Smyth (1882-1949) is now on show at the National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh.



The National Galleries of Scotland is celebrating International Women's Day by displaying a rare painting, "Bacchanale," by Scottish artist Olive Carleton Smyth. The painting, depicting musicians and revellers in a forest, is only the second work by the artist to enter a UK museum collection.
