GCHQ issues alert over cyber attackers working on behalf of Iranian government

National Cyber Security Centre warns ‘malicious’ activity putting accounts at risk

GCHQ, through the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), has issued an alert warning of cyber-attacks by hackers linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). These attackers are using phishing and social engineering tactics to target individuals with connections to Iranian and Middle Eastern affairs, including government officials, journalists, and activists. The US has also reported similar threats, with Iranian hackers targeting US political campaigns. The NCSC advises high-risk individuals to remain vigilant and utilize its free cyber defence tools.
