Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 65, were found dead at their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home on February 27, 2025. They may have been deceased for days or weeks. Sheriff's deputies noted no signs of foul play, though an open pill bottle was found near Arakawa. Post-mortem results could take months. Two dogs were alive; gas lines were checked without issues. Their daughters and granddaughter expressed devastation. The couple, married in 1991, included Arakawa, a classical pianist.
