
Dr. Heather Jarrell chief medical investigator for the state of New Mexico said that autopsies had been performed on the couple last Thursday and uncovered the reasons behind the death.
Gene Hackman, 95, died from Alzheimer's and cardiovascular disease approximately a week after his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65, died from Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, a rare rat-borne disease. Their bodies were discovered in their Santa Fe home on February 26th.
