Gene Hackman, 95, died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease at his Santa Fe home, approximately a week after his 65-year-old wife, Betsy Arakawa, died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. Hackman had advanced Alzheimer's and may not have been aware of his wife's death. Both bodies were found in a state of mummification.
