Georgia Governor Brian Kemp appointed Barbara Rivera Holmes, the head of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, as the state's new labor commissioner. Rivera Holmes is the first Hispanic woman to hold statewide office in Georgia. She replaces the late Bruce Thompson and will serve until 2027, planning to run for a full term in 2026.
