The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), representing 36 state governors, has emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation with the United States in areas of economic development, governance, and health. In a communique issued after their Abuja meeting, the governors reaffirmed their commitment to governance reforms and effective policy implementation at the subnational level. The US Ambassador to Nigeria outlined a vision for renewed partnership, including enhancing trade, improving the business environment, promoting transparency in governance, and supporting sustainable health programs. The governors also highlighted the critical role of states in driving economic and social development. Additionally, the NGF called for expanding the Nigeria For Women Project to empower women economically and engaged with the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria (COSLON) to strengthen legislative efficiency and representation in the constitutional review process.
