A fire at a high-voltage substation in Hayes, five miles from Heathrow Airport, caused a 15-hour closure of the airport, disrupting 1,351 flights and affecting hundreds of thousands of passengers. The fire, involving 25,000 liters of cooling oil, led to power cuts for 67,000 homes and the evacuation of 150 residents.
